Boys Basketball: Southern Durham survives late scare by Jordan, wins 81-76

Southern Durham needed a late run to upend Jordan, 81-76, after the Falcons came back from a double digit second half deficit on Tuesday night.

The first quarter of play was dominated by foul calls. Southern jumped out to an early lead but the game turned into a free throw shooting contest in the latter half of the opening stanza.

The Spartans were able to build on their lead and took a 24-12 lead at the conclusion of the first eight minutes of play.

Jordan found some rhythm in the second quarter behind strong shooting. The Falcons scored 18 points in the second quarter and cut the deficit down to 11 heading into the break.

Jordan continued to fight back in the second half.

The Falcons were able to move the ball and generate strong looks against the Spartans zone. Jordan hit a late basket in the third quarter to make it a 63-54 game heading into the final quarter of play.

Jordan made its biggest run to start the fourth. The Falcons went on an 18-7 run to take a two point lead with a little less then three minutes in the game.

The Spartans responded well, and ended the game on a 11-4 run to reclaim the lead and put the game out of reach.

Southern was led by Ahmad Hamilton who scored a game high 26 points and Ricky Council who scored 24 points in the game.
