Former NC State student who became media sensation now set to marry

— A former North Carolina State University student who made national headlines six years ago for storming the court in a wheelchair after his school racked up a big win over Duke is making news again.

This time it‘s because Will Privette has found love and is set to tie the knot this weekend with his fiancĂ©, who also rushed onto the NC State basketball court although it would be weeks before the two would eventually meet.

The two future lovers were among the pack of jubilant NC State fans who couldn‘t contain their excitement after that dramatic victory in January 2013.

Privette admits now that running onto the court after the big win against Duke was dangerous, especially after he toppled over and fell from his wheelchair.

Little did he know at the time that celebration would lead to him to the the love of his life.

After NC State clinched the win over Duke 84-76, Privette wanted to celebrate like other fans.

But he then found himself the subject of much news coverage after falling from his wheelchair and ending up among a heap of fans.

Privette became an overnight celebrity, garnering attention from many people, including Ashley Stephenson.

“I knew that a couple of people were sending him friend requests on Facebook, so I figured I‘ll send him a friend request,” she said.

She caught his eye.

After a few dates and hangout, the two started officially dating, and have now been together nearly seven years.

“We wouldn‘t have met if it wasn‘t for that,” he said. “I never thought my future wife would come out of it, so it‘s pretty cool.”

The two are scheduled to marry this Saturday in Nahsville, N.C.
