Girls Basketball: Jordan holds off Southern Durham, 60-50, remains undefeated

Durham, N.C. — Jordan remained undefeated on the season with a strong win over Southern Durham, 60-50, on Tuesday night.

The game started out high scoring.

Southern was able to run in transition and kept pace with the talented lady Falcons in the first eight minutes of play, as Jordan held a 14-13 lead.

The second quarter saw both teams focus change to the defensive side of the ball. Jordan extended its lead in the quarter and out scored the Spartans 15-10 to take a six point lead into the break.

Southern Durham cut into the deficit to start the third quarter and came as close as two points but Jordan answered. The Falcons fed the post and got going after a slow second half start to lead 43-34 heading into the break.

Jordan closed the door on the game in the final stanza. The lady Falcons knocked down their free throws and dwindled down the clock to secure their fourth win of the season by 10 points.

Nia Howard led Jordan with a game high 16 points and got help from Jori Wilkes who scored 13 points in the game.

Southern was led by Amya Ingram and Taylor Robinson who each scored 14 points in the ball game.

Jordan will put its undefeated record on the line once again against Bull City foe Hillside on Friday night. Southern will look to bounce back when it plays Northern in two weeks on December 17.
