Man arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing 2 roommates in Big Bear City

A man was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of shooting and killing two people in Big Bear City on Monday afternoon.

Ralph Meneses, 41, of Big Bear City, is suspected of shooting and killing 66-year-old Cynthia Kilough and 35-year-old Jeffrey Tiner, both also of Big Bear City, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of West Sherwood Boulevard just after 1:20 p.m. after receiving a call from Meneses claiming he shot Kilough and Tiner after they attacked him.

Meneses, Kilough and Tiner were roommates, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Tiner was found dead inside the residence, and Kilough was pronounced dead after she was transported to a local hospital, authorities said. Meneses had puncture wounds on his midsection, but did not go to the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Department said detectives determined that Meneses, Kilough and Tiner were involved in an argument, which turned into a physical assault.

“During the incident, Meneses shot and killed Kilough and Tiner,” officials said in a statement. “It was later determined that Meneses’ wounds were self-inflicted.”

Meneses was arrested on suspicion of murder at 4:15 a.m. on Friday and booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
